Maurice Scott for Indianapolis City-County Council District 6
My name is Maurice R. Scott and I am ecstatic to announce that I'm running for City-county Councilor for District 6, a newly formed district here in Indianapolis. District 6 encompasses Pike Township and six precincts in Washington Township. While I am unable to officially declare my candidacy until the first week of January, my intention is to be your next city-county councilor.
My Platform
I am proud of the work I have done and want to continue to serve our community by pushing sound policy that will improve our quality of life. If elected as your councilor, I will focus on:
#1
Saving homes in the tax sale due to special assessment fees by municipal organizations
#2
Focus on the underlying issues that plague the increasing homicides
#3
Direct more funds to local youth and non-profit organizations to keep kids safe and out the street
#4
Redevelop Northwest Parkway, making it the premier park in Indianapolis
A Word from Maurice
I have been deeply involved in our community since my arrival to the Hoosier state in 2008. I taught inner-city kids civics through the non-profit Winning Experiences and guided them to a first-place victory in a national debate competition. I hosted and coordinated breakfast for women in the Dove House substance abuse recovery and housing program. And I coordinated a business clothing drive and resume review for felons re-entering society in the Marion County Re-entry Court program.
